In celebration of our Annual Bowling Party this Sunday, we thought it might be fun to provide you with a few bowling tips and tricks.
Following these few guidelines will insure your spot on the Pro Bowlers Tour...or, at the very least, make you the next "Roy Buckley" of the Racine/Waterford area.
Bowling 101
Step 1: Make sure you have a good bowling ball...a ball that's not too heavy or too light.
Step 2: Get a good stance. Your stance is very important...it puts you in your comfort zone. So find a stance that feels good and is natural for you.
Step 3: Find a mark on the lane. There are seven arrows on
the lane. It's best not to aim for the middle arrow as this could get you a split. If you're right handed then aim for
the arrow to the right. If you are left handed aim for the arrow to the
left.
Step 4: Release the ball. Be sure to release the ball
in front of you and not behind you. And look at the arrows upon release...not at the
pins. When you
release the ball make sure your arm goes up for a better follow through.
Step 5: Follow through. During the second ball, you will want to aim at a spare,
and remember...speed makes spares. Faster speed gives the ball less time
to react and turn, equaling more accuracy. Practice a straight, consistent spare shot...cause you know what they say...anybody can strike, but not everybody
spares.
Five easy steps to bowling success…who knew?
Don't get us wrong, bowling does take practice. But according to wikihow...if you can master
these steps you’ll never again say to yourself…”Man, I wish I could bowl like
that guy."
