Egg-Cellent Ideas

The Easter Bunny will be here before you know it!
Have you started coloring your Easter Eggs yet?
Yes, the fun (yet tedious) task of coloring eggs is here and with all of the Egg Dying Kits on the market today, it's easy to fall into the same ol' same ol' when it comes to coloring your eggs.

We say break free this year and create Easter Eggs worthy of the Smithsonian! There are so many different ways to decorate your Easter Eggs without having to dunk them. So before you get out your plastic cups and vinegar...give a few of these ideas a try.

OMG...how can you not love these super sparkly eggs! Glue and glitter is all you need to get this look. And it doesn't take nearly as long as waiting for your eggs to reach the deep, rich color that is on the box of the Egg Dying Kit.

Now this one does use food coloring and vinegar. But the effect is so cool, we just couldn't pass about telling you about it. These eggs do require a little bit of wait time for the colors to set...but the unveiling of your masterpiece eggs is well worth it!

Leave it to Martha Stewart to suggest that we gold leaf our hard boiled eggs...or as she would put it...imitation gold leaf our hard boiled eggs. However...is there anything better than a REAL Golden Egg? We don't think so.

We hope you have a great time this Easter!
Now...get to decorating and let us know how it goes!

Spring Break Smiles

The weather is getting more and more perfect with each passing day, and you know what that means…Spring Break is just around the corner!

With Spring Break comes family vacations. But even when you are not in the comfort of your own home you shouldn't let your healthy teeth habits fall to the wayside.

We all know having a clean mouth is important. A clean mouth gives you fresh breath and a nicer-looking smile. Brushing and flossing removes a thin sticky film of bacteria that grows on your teeth. This sticky film, called plaque, is the main cause of tooth decay and gum disease.

So…you know when you are gearing up for vacation and you pack your suitcase and put together your video games and chargers and things to keep you occupied in the car...Well, why not put together an Oral Hygiene Kit at the same time? Get yourself a big Zip Lock bag and fill it full of everything you will need to keep your smile clean, bright and healthy while on the road.

Here are a few items you will want to include in your OH Kit:
  • Travel Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Mouthwash
  • Floss
  • Floss Threaders
  • Elastics
  • Mini Mirror
  • Dental wax
Putting together an oral hygiene travel kit is the easiest way to support your healthy habits while away from home. And…you may also want to keep a Lenz Orthodontics contact card inside your kit just in case you have an emergency and need to call our office.

Remember...it's very important to maintain regular hygiene appointments with your family dentist throughout orthodontic treatment!

Green with Envy

St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow and if you're like most people, you are probably trying to come up with an interesting food item to bring to a party or potluck.

Green food...not the easiest thing to think of. And yes, food coloring can pretty much turn anything you make green. But will what you make still look appetizing once you have turned it the color of the leprechaun?

Frosted green cupcakes aside...when planning for a St. Paddy's Day event, keep the theme of the day in mind and go green!

These Guacamole Cups are sure to be a hit. Now, this recipe we found has you making your own guacamole and baking your own wonton cups...but we are all about speed and convenience this late in the game. The same success can be achieved by using a "scoop" type chip and store bought guacamole.

Oh...come on...how cute are these? And super easy to make. Basically all you need to do is make a tray of brownies, mix green food coloring into some Cool Whip, layer and you are done. Huge wow factor in no time at all.

Who says healthy food can't be fun food that tastes good?  Not us. Use Kiwi, Green Grapes and Green Apple to create these All Green Fruit Skewers. You can even go the veggie route by using Bell Pepper, Zucchini and Broccoli. Get yourself a little veggie dip on the side and you're friends will be calling you Darby O'Gill in no time.

This Pea Soup recipe is like 2 ingredients total. But for those of you who don't even want to think about making your own pea soup, we think Campbell's and Progresso probably have a pretty good canned version that you can pawn off as your own. And really...with this idea, it's more about presentation anyways.

Now if you really want to be the bell of the ball and you have about 2 to 3 hours to kill, this cake is a must! And for dramatic effect...be sure to cut out a nice slice so that everyone can see how gorgeously green this cake is!

So go on...make 'em all green with envy this St. Patrick's Day!
