We Be All Band 'O Pirates This Day

Ahoy Mateys! Today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day!

International Talk Like a Pirate Day was founded by John Baur and Mark Summers (two friends from Oregon) back in 1995 and is the only holiday on the calendar that gives everyone around the world the excuse to talk like a pirate the all day long for the sheer fun of it.

Pirate lingo is rich and complicated, but if you can master a few key phrases, you’ll be able to convince anyone you are a true pirate in the making.

Ahoy! - Hello or Hi…but can sometimes be used for Goodbye.

Ahoy, matey or Ahoy, me hearties - Hello, my friend.

Arrr! - This one is often confused with Arrrgh, which is of course the sound you make when you are displeased with something. Arrr! can mean, “yes”, “I agree”, or “I’m happy".

Avast! - Stop and check this out or pay attention.

Aye! - Yes

Aye aye! - I'll get right on that.

Blimey! - An exclamation of surprise.

Blow me down – Used as an expression of shock or disbelief.

Matey - A way to address someone in a friendly fashion.

Shiver me timbers - Comparable to the expression “Holy cow!”

So get out there and celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day or We’ll make ye walk the gangplank, ye sorry swab!

Say GoodBye To Food in Your Braces

photo provided by enlightenme.com

Damon System Braces are a unique type of self-ligating braces that allow Dr. Lenz to eliminate the rubber bands that cause so much trouble for traditional braces wearers.

The unique design of Damon System Braces helps to reduce the buildup of food particles and debris that tend to get lodged in the brackets of traditional metal braces. Thus...eating while wearing the Damon System can actually be easier because cleaning is a snap.

There are several different foods that you might want to focus on during your early days with Damon System Braces. The most important thing to remember is that you need to focus on soft foods and non-chewy foods immediately after you get your Damon System Braces. Remember to chew carefully and evenly as you start to adjust to your new braces. As you become comfortable with your braces, consider gradually re-introducing the crunchier and harder foods that you usually enjoy. Most Damon System patients are able to eat virtually anything as long as caution is used.

Overall, you can expect a very smooth transition into wearing Damon System Braces and you will be able to enjoy a remarkably fast smile correction at the same time.

If you are curious about Damon Braces or if you have specific questions about how they can help you, please feel free to contact Lenz Orthodontics anytime!

Time For School

Image Provided by clipartkid.com
Now that many of the schools in Racine and Waterford, Wisconsin are back in session, Dr. Lenz would like to remind all of our patients about the importance of scheduling appointments in advance.

With school, clubs, sports, and family duties to consider, we know that it can be challenging to find time to visit Lenz Orthodontics this fall. In order to accommodate all of our patients’ busy schedules, it is important that you plan ahead for your appointments so that we are able to provide you with a convenient appointment time.

Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions, or if you would like to schedule your fall appointment. We’ll see you soon and hope summer is winding down nicely for you and your family!
