Cheese Doodle Day...It's a Real Thing

We would never joke about something as serious as
National Cheese Doodle Day

It's Un-Official!
Today is the day we give thanks to the cheddar cheese coated crunchy snack food that many of us have loved for years.

Cheese doodles are made with cornmeal that has been puffed, baked and coated with cheddar cheese. Morrie Yohai invented the cheese doodle in 1940's when he took over his families snack food business after returning home from World War II. Then...in the '60's a company called Wise Foods acquired Yohai's business and the cheese doodle became part of their potato chip division.

Today, cheese doodles are one of Wise's strongest brands and the company produces over 15 million pounds of cheese doodles each year!

A few things you should know about the Cheese Doodle...
  • "Cheese Doodle Fingers" is the official term used when describing the cheesy orange residue left on your fingers after snaking.
  • Cheese Doodles are said to be one of the only packaged snack foods preferred by Julia Child.
  • Cheese Doodles have their own FaceBook page with over 8,000 fans.
  • The Wise Company currently sells 7 different flavors of Cheese Doodles, including Honey BBQ and Hot 'n Honey.
  • Cheetos cheese snacks became a hit in the '50's and many would argue the Doodle is not a copy, but a superior cheesy snack.
